Cloud CL-1 Mic Activator
Bring Your Mics to Life

Cloudlifters increase the sensitivity of your microphone and bring its natural tonal characteristics into focus. The single-channel Cloudlifter CL-1, two-channel Cloudlifter CL-2, and rack-mountable four channel Cloudlifter CL-4 all provide up to +25dB of ultra-clean gain with fixed impedance loading at 3kΩ, optimized for a wide variety of microphones. Each one is designed to improve the sensitivity and performance of lower-output microphones dramatically. Whether you’re using an expensive, professional-grade microphone/preamp combination or common microphones with a basic home setup, Cloudlifters provide way more signal from the microphone itself, allowing the preamp to operate in its optimal gain range by reducing the amount of gain needed. This reduces noise and distortion, bringing more of the microphone’s natural character into focus. For those recording professionally, at home, or performing on stage, Cloudlifters are valuable tools that produce high-quality, professional audio.

Up to +25 dB of Gain

Hear more of your dynamic and ribbon microphone's natural character and increase the clarity with +25dB of ultra-clean gain. Cloudlifters provide ultra-clean gain in two distinct stages while optimizing impedance loading.

The Cloudlifter uses +48v Phantom Power but does not pass power to the mic. For this reason, the Cloudlifter is a great way to keep your ribbon and tube mics safe from exposure to Phantom Power while providing the extra gain they need.

Reduce Unwanted Feedback

As a result of increased sensitivity and ultra-clean gain, the amount of gain required by the preamp is reduced significantly. This also reduces noise and improves the natural frequency response of the mic by allowing the preamp or interface to operate within its comfort zone!

Perfect for Podcasts, Professional and home Studios, AV, and Live Sound

Whether you are a pro studio looking for more gain from your ribbon or tube mics or narrating a podcast or video with a dynamic mic, creating quality content with the Cloudlifter is easy.

►►Enter to win 1of 2 Cloudlifters here: https://bit.ly/2QIwDlm Today we’re taking a look at the Cloudlifter – I’ve been wanting to try one of these for years, but haven’t had the chance. I have heard from many people that although initially the Cloudlifters were specifically designed to get a little extra “umph” out of ribbon mics, they’re also really good on SM57s! – In one of our earlier videos we went to Simon Phillips’ old studio and he was using these on his SM57s! If you haven’t tried one of these out yet, you’re in luck! The fine folks over at Cloud Microphones have given us 2 Cloudlifters to give away! Please make sure to enter the giveaway here: https://bit.ly/2QIwDlm To see what the Cloudlifter can do, we’re going to try it out using a trusty Royer R-10 Ribbon Micrphone and of course an SM57! So the SM7B is an awesome microphone that gets alot of intrest among content creators and professionals. The only problem is, you need a really good preamp that is capable of providing enough gain to power the mic. Unfortunaltey, alot of premamps are not able to provided enough gain to power the SM7B. But all is not lost, with the CL-1 Mic Activator (cloudlifter) will provided you SM7B with enough gain to use your SM7B TimeStamps 1:59 Zoom H4N 5:23 Zoom H6 7:56 Mbox 3 10:14 MG12XU 12:39 Avalon 737 15:06 Aphex Channel ***************************************************************** Support Lo Knows on Patreon to get early videos and a chance to win free gear!! http://www.patreon.com/loknows If you like the gear im using go ahead and get it here. Cloudlifter CL-1 and CL-Z - Sound Speeds Review
17:39
There's a lot that can be said for Cloud Microphone's Cloudlifter line of microphone activators. If you're not familiar with microphone activators, they use phantom power to create a boost in the output signal of dynamic, ribbon and tube microphones connected to them. The Cloudlifter CL-1 is commonly sold accompanying the Shure SM7B because that microphone requires a lot of gain and many preamps today are noisy at higher gain levels. In that circumstance, you may reach for a Cloudlifter so you don't have to turn up your gain as high. Some people online swear by Cloudlifters while other say you're better off spending that extra money on a better interface or recorder with quieter preamps. In this video we'll test both the Cloudlifter CL-1 and CL-Z and by the end of the video, you'll have formed an opinion on if it's worth the money or not. To purchase a Cloudlifter CL-1:http://geni.us/CloudlifterCL1 To purchase a Cloudlifter CL-Z: http://geni.us/CloudlifterCLZ For info about Cloudlifters: http://cloudmicrophones.com Full disclosure: Cloud Microphones sent me both the CL-1 and CL-Z to review but that in no way affected my opinion or shaped my review. The purchase links above contain Amazon Affiliated Links. Note: Cloudlifters don't repair the signal therefore any signal that enters it, whether clean or dirty, will be boosted without prejudice.
